If you're looking for bagpipes in Santa Barbara, you've come to the right place... The Santa Barbara Sheriff Pipe and Drum Corps is available for public and private events. The Pipe & Drum Corps is a volunteer element of Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
Formed in 2007, it is the only Law Enforcement pipe band between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Its missions include:
- Support the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Honor Guard in its ceremonial duties by providing a musical element in the form of Great Highland Bagpipes and Drums
- Support additional department activities such as graduations, promotions, holiday events, fundraisers, retirements, public performances, memorial services, and other functions as the Sheriff may direct
- Provide bagpipe and drum instruction to pipe band members
The Pipe & Drum Corps is open to all sworn, civilian and retired law enforcement personnel as well as current and former reserves from any law enforcement, corrections or fire agency.
The Pipe & Drum Corps is also open to members of the local piping/drumming community and any and all interested citizens wishing to participate and support pipe band objectives. Instruction is provided free of charge.
- Learn the Great Highland Bagpipe — musical talent is nice, but stubbornness is more valuable
- Learn the Scottish Snare, Tenor, or Bass Drum — if you can drum on a steering wheel, you qualify
For charitable, civic, and public service events -- The Sheriff's Pipe & Drum Corps can be hired to perform
For private events such as weddings, anniversaries , commencements and memorials; or commercial events such as, retreats, receptions, and openings -- individual pipers and drummers can be hired to perform.
